Hi! We’re the Boyce sisters:

Marissa & Ali Boyce

We are childhood trauma survivors, just like you.

We grew up with chaotic, unpredictable and abusive parents.

We both stumbled our way in the dark, trauma stealing our lives, our joy, and our connectedness.

We have spent many years on the healing path, and that path lead us to RRP and to Patrick Teahan.

Today, through all the work we’ve done, we’re excited to share this offering with you.

I am a counsellor, educator, and facilitator who is passionate about helping people understand, investigate, and re-pattern their relationship histories. I also am a powerful ally when it comes to understanding and rewriting your family and childhood narrative.

I am a trained trauma, addictions, couples' and family therapist. I work through a systemic lens - which means I take a persons' whole context into view when I work with them and help them expand their story so they can see the full picture. You see, I believe that we are NOT all just individuals with mental illnesses and diseases inside of our heads. We are people that live in systems with other people and we are also the product (and participants) of the culture in which we live in.

I am someone who has been through a lot and worked hard to understand, heal and forgive myself. I have stumbled and made many mistakes through my healing journey. One of the main mistakes I have made was believing shame based stories about how I was the problem and if I only just "fixed myself" or "tried harder" then I could be magically better. This took me on a very long and arduous journey. But now I know more, and I am hoping to share some of what I learned with you.

Is there a magical secret or recipe to healing our trauma, maladaptive patterns and relationships? I have not found one yet. But there is one thing I do know. We heal through relationships with others. We heal our attachment and relationship injuries through being in safe and secure intimacy with the people in our lives. This includes with your therapist. I think there is a lot of healing that can be done through a powerful relationship with someone you trust.

About Ali Boyce

I’m a voice teacher, performer, massage therapist, craniosacral therapist, and yoga teacher who is passionate about guiding people to understand singing and their own connection to their voice and body, to help empower them to have agency and freedom in their singing.

I have sung forever, and have spent the last 20 years of my life as a dedicated student of the voice. I have spent over a decade healing my own C-PTSD and childhood trauma through individual therapy, RRP group therapy, bodywork, yoga and qi gong, singing, songwriting, and creative expression in general.

Singing is my first love and I always struggled to sing freely, and to have access to my own creative expression. I always thought there was some kind of secret or mystery to singing that someone just wasn’t telling me, so I went on a quest to, well, figure it out. Along the way, I discovered massage & bodywork, nervous system healing, yoga and movement, therapy, and songwriting, all as a means to access more freedom and artistic expression. To feel more whole.

I believe we are all born singers. There is no special gift or talent you must possess to sing. To be human is to express, and singing is a powerful tool and means of expression of the human experience. I also believe childhood trauma can steal our ability to sing as freely as we want, or believe we can. It can numb our bodies, highjack our nervous systems, steal our ability to feel fully and tell us that we don’t deserve to sing, that we aren’t truly “real” singers.

Learning how the voice works in a scientific way is a powerful tool for many to gain more agency in their singing. Singing is an interoceptive event, meaning it is a deep inner felt sense experience. Creating more awareness in our bodies, awakening to our actual feelings and sensations in the body, can be life-changing and can transform our singing. In my teaching, I combine nervous system tools and felt-sense experiences, and voice education, as a way for my students to gain deeper connection to their voice.

We’re so excited to support you on your healing journey!
